How to Make Pinterest Better: A 3 Part Series

TweetWe have Pinterest boards with hundreds if not thousand of pins.  Boards filled with images that link us to everything under the sun. We spend hours searching and pinning the stuff that we find interesting or ‘Pinteresting’. (Ha ha! Sorry couldn’t resist) There are ways that together, we can make Pinterest even better. Whether you’re new to Pinterest or  a super user, join me on a 3 part series on how to become a better Pinterest pinner.       It has been said that Pinterest has evolved to become the 3rd largest social media network, just behind Twitter and Facebook. Did you notice what it has been called? A ‘social network’.  According to Merriam-Webster.com, social is defined like this:     Cooperative and interdependent. Hmm, if I remember my lessons from Sesame Street right, being cooperative is a way of sharing, not just taking but giving too.   You don’t want to be considered uncooperative and selfish do you? You want to be the kind of person that shares on Pinterest right?  Lets see how you can be a thoughtful and courteous member of the Pinterest social network.   Part 1 Don’t be a showoff One question I’ve heard and have even asked myself is; If you are a blog writer or a website owner, should you pin your own stuff? I say yes, with a catch. As long as you pin other things too, it’s OK to pin your own stuff. Nobody wants to be around someone that only talks about themselves. The same goes on Pinterest.

Pinterest Magic Getting Order From Chaos:Lace Earring Organizer

TweetDoes this look familiar? A  jewelry box that is a jumbled mess.     This is Sara’s cute green jewelry box jam packed with who knows what.  She found that she wasn’t wearing  jewelry she had just because she couldn’t find it. She needed  help with this organizational dilemma. So where did she go? Pinterest!  This is what she found: Sara doesn’t consider herself a “crafty” person but for the sake of being well accessorized, she was willing to try. This reminds me of one of my favorite  quotes from the movie Steel Magnolias; ”The only thing that separates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize”  said by Clairee (Olympia Dukakis).     Sara’s pin linked her to Jo-Anna’s Black Lace Earring Holder Pinterest inspired project on A Pretty Life in the Suburbs. Sara prefers a feminine soft look so she chose a cream and gold colors. Reminds me of “blush and bashful” from Steel Magnolias. Maybe something is telling me I need to watch that movie again. She gathered her supplies and got to work.   Embroidery hoop- Sara’s is 10″ Lace wide enough to cover hoop plus 1″ Acrylic paint     Jo-Anna used black spray paint but Sara opted for a gold acrylic. Since the color of the paint and the hoop were similar and she doesn’t like to get messy, Sara came up with an awesome solution. She used a piece of tape around the hoop to mark her starting point and it also gave her a place to hold on to to keep from

Love is a Beautiful Thing: Getting and Giving Blog Love

TweetI am proud to announce that I am the recipient of a major award and it’s even better than one of these…   Source: google.co.uk via Frock on Pinterest   It’s the Kreativ Blogger Award!   Jen over at Crafty Home Improvement Misadventures thought Oh So Pinteresting has what it takes to be the recipient of this prestigious award. Thanks Jen! I try really hard to make this blog into something special. As I tell my kids, if you are going to spend your time doing something, make it something to be proud of. This award is a little different. It’s not just about the praise and glamour that it brings, it requires some work. According to the Kreativ blogger rules, accepting the award includes the following requirements:   1. Thanking the blogger who nominated me to receive the award and providing a link back to their blog. 2. Sharing 10 things about yourself that bloggers might find interesting. 3. Nominate 6 other bloggers to receive the award and inform them.   As Jen put it, “Some might say these awards seem like chain letter type things, and I HATE those…it’s nice to see people complimenting each other, building each other up, instead of trashing each other.  So, let’s keep the love going.”  I couldn’t have said it better.   10 things that bloggers might find interesting I’ve decided to do 5 blogging related things and 5 personal things     Blogging stuff Making new connections with people from all across the country is my favorite part of being
