Friday Quick Tip: Give your Pinterest Account Some Personality

TweetHave you fallen victim to boring Pinterest syndrome? Is your Pinterest account collecting cobwebs? Do you want more followers? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this is written just for you.     In social situations we usually want our personality to shine right? The same applies to social media including Pinterest. Lately I have been seeing a lot of this:       This account (who’s name I blocked to protect their identity) has an account with some very nice pins and boards. They obviously repin from other pinners but their about section is blank and they haven’t uploaded a profile picture. Boring! The about section, located under the account name, is one place you can show some personality. Tell us a little about yourself or tell us what kinds of things you like to pin.   Profile Pictures If you’re pinning for a business, tell us what your business is about or what we can expect to find here that’s different from your website.     Please add a profile picture. The generic pin is well, just so generic. Even if you think you’re not photogenic put a picture of your favorite place or your cat, just put something! If you are using Pinterest for business purposes this is a must and a logo works great here. Followers can quickly identify your pins when they scan their stream by your profile image. The about section and profile image can be changed by clicking the Edit

Friday Pinterest Quick Tip: How to Clean up Your Pinterest Account

TweetWhen you go to your Pinterest account, do you feel like you’re looking at this?       Does it make you crazy when you can’t find what you’re looking for? Never fear, there is a solution and I’m here to help!   Have you ever notice that little film strip looking thing next to where it says “Edit Profile”? Click it and you can do magic.       When you click this pops up     You can then click on the individual board and drag it to where you want it. It kind of reminds me of one of those slider puzzle games I used to play as a kid.     Ordering your Pinterest Boards If your Pinterest account is for personal use, put the boards in an order that make sense to you. For example group holidays together and put fashion boards together.   If you are a blogger or business owner and want to get more Pinterest followers and more traffic back to your site, some of these suggestions might help. Put boards with pins that have links back to your website or blog at the top so they are easy to find. Put boards with popular topics related to your target audience at the top. Put boards with current contest and promotions at the top. Organize boards in an order that makes sense, try to separate boards into groups of similar topics. As the seasons change and promotions end, don’t forget to rearrange

Get Through the Holidays with Snickerdoodles and Pinterest

TweetThe first official day of fall is fast approaching and for me fall means warm blankets, cups of hot tea and baking. I sound like a little old grey haired grandma don’t I? Fall seems to have arrived early. This morning was so cool I had to grab a light jacket.  The chilly morning made me want to bake. I have tried to keep the carbs under control all summer but sometimes a girl has got to do what a girl has got to do!   Snickerdoodles was the cookie of choice today. They give the house the smell of fresh basked cookies with a hint of cinnamon. Sounds like fall to me. Here’s the end result…     But what does my carb fix have to do with Pinterest you ask? Well, in just a little over 2 months we will be full swing into the holiday season and we can use Pinterest to help us prepare. I have baked the same recipe for snickerdoodles for years and sometimes I bake them for holiday gifts. I originally found the recipe on AllRecipes.com but this is the first time I took a picture of my cookies.  This got me to thinking, why not create your own cookbook or menu plan on Pinterest?  You could make a board of your favorite recipes for each holiday.   ***The Snickerdoodle recipe link can be found at the end of this post***   Creating Your Pinterest Cookbook Step 1. Get recipe Step 2. Get an image to represent the recipe   If your recipe is from
