And Now for Something Different

Hello, fellow Pinners! There are a lot of exciting changes going on around here. You can read the back story of how all it all started and how Pinterest plays a part in it on my guest post over at my friend Jules’ blog A Beautiful Day.

The tagline of her blog is “A beautiful day…. because everyday is, somedays we just have to look a little bit harder.” I know I can relate to that.

There really is beauty in every day

I am blessed with an incredible life, so why not make the most of it? Why not have fun with it? Sometimes, that includes doing things that are risky, scary and unconventional. Just like I say here,  don’t just pin it, do it!

In a recent episode of one of my favorite podcasts, Blogcast FM, I listened to an interview with Michael Bungay Stanier. In the interview, he talked about looking at your past successes to guide your future and connecting with the edgy version of yourself. It really spoke to me.

Michael made a video called The Eight Irresistible Principles of Fun that sums up his philosophy and I’d like to share it with you.

How do you keep your life from becoming just a routine? What do you do to make the most of it?

  1. Great video, I think I’ve fallen into a rut and this was just what I needed! I especially love #2 Start being intensely selfish.

    • Glad you enjoyed it Leslie! Being “intensely selfish” has been a hard concept for me to wrap my head around. I was raised to always be concerned about everyone else. As a wife, mom and nurse my needs always got pushed to the back. I’m coming to realize that I NEED to take care of myself too. That way I can truly be my best for everyone else. How about you?

  2. Julie

Awwww…what a sweet surprise to click to your blog and see my button. I love that video and what truth it tells….I just have to get myself to live it!!!

    • You’re welcome Julie. I know it is so hard for me to keep thing sin perspective when I’m in the moment. That’s one of the reasons I really enjoy videos like these, they help me to remember. Old habits are hard to break but they can be broken, right?
