TweetI don’t know about you, but, I seem to be more creative and more productive when I’m in a pleasing and relaxing environment. Messy chaos is distracting. I have been on a mission to organize and decorate our home office. My husband and I share the office, so it has to be gender neutral but, it is big enough that he has his side and I have mine. While his side is very masculine with dark wood and multiple computer monitors, I wanted to make my side a bit more feminine and colorful. Of course I went to Pinterest for inspiration. My side of the office has recessed area that is wide enough for a desk but had a lot of open space left above. I could have filled it with art work but I wanted something a bit more functional. During one of my many Pinterest pinning sessions, I found a pin for floating shelves. Ah ha! Shelves are a perfect solution for filling all of that space. I can use them for storage and decorate them with some of my favorite treasures. Here’s a peek of the shelves in progress… The inspiration for these shelves came from Sherry and John over at Young House Love . I would like to say that my husband and I are as talented they are and made these all by ourselves, but, I have to be honest, we hired someone. We could never find the time to get it

Bringing Out the Power Tools with Pinterest
TweetThe smell of fresh sawdust reminds me of my grandfather. He was a homebuilder when he was younger and my grandmother often had projects for him to do around the house. I’d sit and watch him hammer and saw fascinated by the things he could build. I was so impressed by him, that when I was in middle school, I took a woodshop class. I almost lost a finger to a jigsaw but my paper towel holder and book shelf were awesome! At least to my 12 year-old self they were. When I came across this recent Pinterest inspired project by Jennifer of I’m The Boss of Me, it really caught my interest. This is the first one I’ve seen that involved lumber and power tools. This Pinterest pin might be small and innocent looking but Jennifer saw a potential problem solver. Jennifer said she hasn’t been able to complete another project because she didn’t have a work surface to complete it on. The pin linked her to HammerZone.com for the instructions. She had some help from a special little helper. Jennifer had a great idea on how to save herself some time and some work; she had the lumber cut for her at Lowes. It looks like the foreman approves… She followed the instructions as written and began with the sides. There were some challenges along the way. The title of Jennifer’s post about this project is called Construction recap:

From Boring to Wow in Less Than 24hrs with Pinterest
TweetThis is my second attempt to publish this post. Cyberspace ate the first one. I’m sorry if you are a subscriber and received a half finished post. Lesson learned: always have a backup of your work. My good friend Danae was nice enough to share a project she found through Pinterest that she has recently done. This one is impressive, take a look….. From Danae: “I was planning for a long time to re-do our kitchen when we had the money. We are slowly but surely remodeling our home. So this is just one of the many projects I have started and actually completed in 24hrs. I have been looking online using various web searches like Pinterest, Google and YouTube. I finally, came across one that I thought I could really do and cheap. I always wanted to have granite counter tops but since money is a little tight, I decided paint always makes things look different and new. So, I used the Pinterest countertop do it yourself project and completed it in less than 24hrs. and under $30.00. Who can beat that?” This pin is linked to a project done by Kristy at CreativeKristi.com. Kristi used Kilz to prime her counter tops but Danae took a different approach. “I looked at Lowes and they have a kit that cost $284.00 which I was ok with spending but, I figure why not give this a try and it’s a lot less expensive. So, I started cleaning off the countertops,
