Striking Gold with Pinterest Hashtags and Comments Q&A Part 1 of 2 OSP 056

Pinterest has proven to be a mighty resource for website traffic referrals for business owners and marketers that have cracked the code to this amazing platform. Beyond it potential for traffic, studies show leads coming via Pinterest tend to spend more money. In fact, buyers coming from Pinterest are 10% more likely to buy according to online store builder Shopify.

PInterest Gold With Hashtags and Comments

Business owners are doing their homework and doing the best they can to utilize this new platform. However, Pinterest brings unique challenges that can lead to confusion for newcomers.

Similar to Oh So Pinteresting podcast episodes 9 and 10, where I spoke with Andrew Hellmich of Photo Biz eXposed about professional photographers using Pinterest, this is a 2 part podcast session where I answer one business owner’s burning questions about using Pinterest for his business and his experience so far.

In this episode:

Sebastian and his wife Lizbeth are the founders of Honey Tree Bespoke Stationers. Honey Tree is a charming ecommerce upscale stationary store based in Somerset, UK.

Sebastian is an accomplished entrepreneur and marketer who has recently ventured into the world of Pinterest. The first half of our conversation dealt with hashtags, search, and comments. Sebastian and I clear up a few confusing aspects of Pinterest. In this round, we talk about:

  • Pinterest hashtags versus Twitter hashtags
  • How to create unique Pinterest hashtags
  • Recommended technique for using hashtags on Pinterest
  • The best way to write pin descriptions
  • Pinterest search glitches
  • Pinterest comment etiquette
  • Overcoming Pinterest comment block

Sebastian and his team have had some great luck with the unique hashtag they created for their business on Pinterest. Essentially, they have struck Pinterest gold. When their hashtag is clicked on only their content appears in the Pinterest search results, how amazing is that?!?!
