TweetWith Black Friday now starting on Thanksgiving and getting hundreds of emails asking you to take advantage of their Holiday Specials, it’s easy to get caught up and lose sight of how special the winter holidays are. With a little help from my friends and Pinterest I found some ways that we can get back to the heart of the holidays. Every Wednesday, Kelly Liberman hosts a chat on Twitter called #PinChat. During a recent chat, someone had the idea of searching Pinterest pins for charities or non-profits to donate to. They suggested this as a family project for the holidays. Here are a few ways to use Pinterest to find causes or organizations to support. **Update** It was fellow PinChatter Cedar Brown who had this awesome idea. You should follow him on Twitter @CedarBrown to see what other awesome ideas he comes up with. The best place to start is the search box in the tool bar at the top. Here are a few search terms to try: non-profits charity causes awareness When searching, be sure to check out boards as well as pins. Sometimes, user’s boards can lead you to more options. I found several pins for large organizations like the Salvation Army, the American Red Cross and the ASCPA but, the search also led to some lesser known organizations like Bright Blessings. One of the many great things Bright Blessings does is bring birthday parties to homeless children. Source:

5 Ways Pinterest has Changed My Life
TweetLast year, if some one had come up to me and said the words pin, repin and pinner, I would have thought that they were talking about sewing. Now, those are words I use every day and there isn’t a needle in sight. Beyond the change in my vocabulary, Pinterest has caused some major changes in my life. Here are the top 5 ways Pinterest has impacted my life: 1. Changes at Home I started trying new recipes, doing new craft projects, and even found new ways to clean my shower. Every time I tried something new my husband would ask “Where did you learn that? ” or “That was good, where did you get that recipe from?” Each time, my response was “Pinterest”. 2.Developing a Blog About Pinterest As I did more of what I found on Pinterest, the more I wanted to share what I was doing and learning. So why not start my own blog? For weeks, I spent every spare minute I had learning about themes, widgets, plugins, CSS and HTML. What the heck is a widget? I thought that was a made up word from the Jetsons. How do those other bloggers make blogging look so easy? I had never taken the time to scroll all the way down to the footer to see that a lot of their layouts had been designed by professional designers. After many headaches, frightened children and lots of wine, OhSoPinteresting.com was born. ***Notice*** No children were harmed during the creation

A Pinterest Before and After Hairstyle
TweetIn an alternate universe somewhere I have long luxurious beautiful hair like this: Source: boards.weddingbee.com via Mediha on Pinterest In that universe I live on the beach, my kids always pick up after themselves and the Kardashians would never be allowed to have their own reality show. I can dream can’t I? The closest I ever came to this was way back in high school. It was long, it had natural curl but looked more like this… Source: Pinterest After I had my kids, I decided to cut my hair short to keep things easy. As they got older, I tried to grow it out but I would get impatient with it and cut it again. I found that as my hair grew, it was not becoming beautiful or luxurious. It was thin and stringy. After each of my pregnancies my hair got straighter and thinner. Am I the only one this happened to? Back to reality Last year, I came to terms with it and realized that long luxurious beautiful hair was not going to happen. It was time to stop fighting nature and work with what I had. I’ve had varying lengths of short hair since. There are lots of good things about having short hair. Takes less time to wash, dry, and style You can use a smaller amount of styling product Doesn’t dip into your food Doesn’t get caught in car doors Last weekend I had a hair appointment at The Hideaway Spa and Salon in Fort Worth, Texas. It had been about 2 months since
